Christopher Alexander

Christopher Alexander

The Viennese-Born architect and theoretician Christopher Alexander initiated a new approach to architectural thinking motivated by the need to enable the participation of actual "users" of buildings, in the design process and to account for solutions resulting by a long cultural process of adaptation to the environment.

Early influential books by Alexander describing his theory of Pattern Languages are:

A Pattern Language: Towns, Buildings, Construction (Oxford University Press, New York, 1977)
The Timeless Way of Building (Oxford University Press, New York, 1979)
