Die
Ausstellung im Goethe-Institut entwirft die supermobile Lebenswelt von der
imaginären Stadt 'Mobile City' und seinen Bewohnerinnen. Der Name 'Mobile'
leitet sich angeblich von den Moubilla Indianern ab.
Ihre
Stammesgeschichte überliefert, dass sie sich an Festtagen Azaleen ins Haar
steckten, um Schmetterlinge anzuzlocken. Sie folgten ihnen und wurden mobil. In
'Mobile City' wird der Name zum Programm.
"Description:
Mobile City" präsentiert mit verschiedenen Medien Bilder mobiler
Lebenswelten: unter anderem eine akustische Reise durch Psychogeographien,
fotografisch dokumentierte Schlafgewohnheiten,
und
Aktionsradien in mobilen Behausungen. Wir erhalten neue Einblicke in
Sehenswürdigkeiten, flexible Denkmuster, Sprach-Umgangsformen,
und
in den kommerziellen Transport von Wunderschachteln bis zur
'End
of Map Zone'.

Description: Mobile City
The exhibition
sketches the super-mobile habitat of the imaginary “Mobile City”
and its inhabitants. It is alleged that the term “Mobile” derives
from the Moubilla Indians. According to their tradition on feast-days they put
azaleas in their hair to attract butterflies. They followed them and became
mobile. In "Mobile City" the name has been chosen for the design.
“Description:
Mobile City” presents with the help of various media images of mobile
habitats: an acoustic journey through the psychological geography,
photographically documented sleeping habits and action radiuses in mobile
accommodation. We gain new insights into places of interest, flexible thinking
patterns, elements of language and manners, and also into the commercial
transport of miraculous boxes to the “End of Map Zone”.

Architecture Biennal Rotterdam
Mobility: A Room with a View
Rotterdam will host the first International Architecture Biennial from May 7 - July 7, 2003. This large-scale event will be held every two years in the Dutch port city of Rotterdam, itself recognized worldwide as an architectural trendsetter. The first architecture biennial focuses entirely on the theme of mobility, examining the issue of modern-day mobility and the consequences for architecture and urban development. Architects, civil engineers, urban planners, traffic experts, landscape architects, students, filmmakers and photographers from around the world will spend two months presenting plans and exchanging ideas in the form of exhibitions, lectures, publications, debates, films and excursions. The curator is Francine Houben, partner in the Mecanoo architecture firm and professor at the Delft University of Technology.
