coloured folders/files
You might use the colour Property to change the initial colour of all system folder contents. this way, you can later on easily distinguish between original and additional files, making it easier to recover from an installation of some stuff "just for testing..."
this should be done before your harddisk gets cluttered with all the stuff you desperately need, like screensavers, graphics programs and so on.
to easily do it, use sherlock->custom search and search for
- everything smaller than 1k size
and
- everything bigger than 1k.
with both search results, press apple-a and select a colour from the menu.
additionally, you can search for folders only and give them colour as well.
