os9 and linux
this is basically the same like creating macos9 partitions (preferably not too many, because a mac harddisk partition table can only hold up to 16 partitions, and with 2 macos hfs partitions 8 to 10 entries are already being used) with the macos9 drive setup utility and creating one partition at the end of the drive which can later be used to create linux partitions with the linux mac-fdisk or pdisk program.
The big difference here is how old the mac is: a so called NewWorld machine can have an Apple_Bootstrap partition which allows for boottime selecting your os.
An OldWorld (say, beige) mac cannot use it; consider using BootX for it.
