On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, the free exhibition space PARKHAUS will be staging a comprehensive show at the Kunsthalle D¸sseldorf from 10th August to 21st September 2008. The PARKHAUS was founded in 1997 at a time when many “off spaces” were being established in D¸sseldorf. The former garden house in the park of the K¸nstlerverein Malkasten has accommodated 75 exhibitions over the decades, which have established the reputation of the project space far beyond the bounds of the city.

Conceptually open and with an international thrust, the focus is on experimental works by a younger generation of artists that react specifically to the exhibition space. Since 2000, the organisers have been presenting an established artist from the international art scene once a year. They have included Gilbert & George, Sylvie Fleury, Joseph Beuys, and Palermo.

For the exhibition in the Kunsthalle D¸sseldorf, the PARKHAUS team Karl Heinz Rummeny and Jost Wischnewski have chosen 42 artists. They represent a broad range of artistic positions and media. Apart from works that were to be seen in the PARKHAUS in the past, like the large-format screen prints by Katharina Fritsch, the joint works by Rosilene Luduvico and Hiroshi Sugito, or sculptures by Sven t'Jolle, John Strutton, and Jacqueline Overberg, new works are being created in situ by Stefan Demary, Michael Sailstorfer, Gereon Krebber, Claus Fˆttinger, Takeshi Makishima and Seb Koberst‰dt, Andreas M‰rker, Gregor Russ, Eduard Winklhofer, Jost Wischnewski and others
